First off, I would just like to say THANK YOU!! We have had such a generous response to the call for pillowcases in our recent drive. Our goal was to collect 1000 pillowcases and as of April 1st, we had well over 1,400! Thank you to all who helped in this great effort to provide for the kids who need comfort the most.
Second, it is time to announce that we are ready to launch our next big project! When a child is pulled from their home, it is traumatic. Added to that trauma is sometimes a lack of proper luggage. The child or youth is asked to put what they have and will need into a box or garbage bag or whatever can be found. We would like to change that in our local Michigan communities. To do this will be focusing the next few months on creating comfort kits! This requires gathering donations of supplies and money to purchase duffel bags and comfort items. Below you will find a list of items that are needed and can be donated. We ask that these items be new and unused. Donations of items can be taken to Pinnacle Rehabilitation in either West Branch or Rose City. If these places don't work, you can also email us to arrange an alternate place.
Items Needed:
- Deodorant
- Shampoo and Conditioner (travel size)
- Toothbrushes/Toothpaste (travel size)
- Bars of soap and travel soap containers
- Combs and Brushes
- Board books
- Picture books
- Suduko or similar puzzle books
- Color books
- Crayons
- Journal
- Chapstick
- Small toys (nothing that has a choking hazard)
- Zipped pouches 11"x12"(If you are interested in sewing these bags and need the supplies to make them, please contact us! We have supplies and need sewers. The tutorial below will get you started. )
- Travel size pillows
- White T-Shirts in all sizes for pajamas
- Pajama bottoms in all sizes
- Monetary Donations to purchase the duffel bags
